All that and a dime bag

When small fragments of societies become geographically far removed from their traditions the remnants of ethnicity remain but cannot always be traced back. “Women’s bodies are often the repository for tradition; when traditional dress is worn by women it can be seen as an attempt to preserve or recreate a real or imagined past.”(Eicher 30) But when does the past become only imagined or even mythical?

When I was a kid my sister had this boyfriend that everyone called Johnny Green Grass. I feel like I finally get it.
